Use cases

Which pattern images work for black-and-white line art

Use this tool to reduce visual clutter in pattern photos and scans, preparing clearer contours for manual review or a later image-to-DXF workflow.

Pattern piece photos

Pattern piece photos

Remove tables, shadows, tools, and text while preserving as much of the complete, continuous outer contour as possible.

Scanned images and single-page PDFs

Scanned images and single-page PDFs

Upload JPG, PNG, WebP, or a scanned PDF. The first PDF page is converted to PNG before processing.

Cleanup before DXF conversion

Cleanup before DXF conversion

Create a black-on-white PNG and inspect whether its contours are closed before using it for further contour extraction.

Workflow

Turn a pattern photo into clean line art in three steps

Flat pieces, unobstructed edges, and even lighting make the result easier to inspect and reuse.

01

Upload a photo or scan

Upload a JPG, PNG, WebP, or single-page PDF up to 20MB, with the full pattern piece visible.

02

Clean background clutter with AI

The tool attempts to remove shadows, tools, text, and internal marks, producing a black-contour PNG on white.

03

Download and review manually

Check edges, closed contours, and important shapes before tracing the result or moving to image-to-DXF conversion.

Formats, input guidance, and output limits

Line art cleanup reduces image clutter. It cannot recover structures hidden in the photo or guarantee real dimensions or production readiness.

JPG, PNG, WebP, and PDF are supported up to 20MB; only the first PDF page is processed.
Lay pieces flat with visible edges and even lighting; avoid overlaps, strong perspective, and heavy folds.
Output is a black-on-white PNG without real-scale calibration, seam allowances, notches, or grading data.
AI can omit details or misread contours. Review every download before deciding whether to convert it to DXF.
